MOTOROLA JT1000 FIELD PROGRAMMING

Motorola Forum For general discussion of Motorola land mobile radio equipment and their trunking technologies.
I remember how to get in to the programming section with the password from memory but it beeps at me when I try to plug in frequencies etc.
It just might be that something is broken now and it will not program from the keypad.
ONCE THAT FREQUENCY IS KEYED IN PRESS THE BLUE BUTTON ON SIDE TO ACCEPT THIS CHANNEL.
ALL THIS MEANS IS THAT YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING ON THAT CHANNEL WITHOUT THE TONES FILTERING OUT OTHER USERS.
ALWAYS PUSH THE BLUE BUTTON ON THE SIDE TO ACCEPT THE CODE ONCE YOU HAVE PUNCHED IN THE NUMBERS.
YOU MUST PROGRAM BOTH THE TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE FREQUENCIES SEPARATELY ON EACH CHANNEL.
THE UNIT WILLS TIME OUT AFTER 15 SECONDS IF YOU DO NOT ENTER ANYTHING DURING THE PROGRAMMING PROCESS.
THE TOP ONE WILL SHOW THE TONE ON THE DISPLAY THAT IS PROGRAMMED ON THE CHANNEL YOU HAVE SELECTED.
PLEASE REVIEW AND COPY THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE HEADING INTO THE FIELD.
The JT1000 is essentially an HT1000 that features a LCD display and is field programmable.
This is in order to comply with FCC type acceptance dictates which state that commercial radios may not be easily programmed by the end user.
Audio output is loud at the maximim setting and an excellent speaker mic is available.
I like the feel of a brick in my hand versus trying to fumble with smaller buttons and knobs.
There was a manufacturing issue with most of the earlier displays that caused rows of pixels to stop working.
Have it programmed once with the right software and then the Radio can be fully programmed from the keyboard without the special side adapter key.
There will be a special battery that comes with a circut or special diode that will allow FULL programming of the radio from the radio itself.
Morse code is good for a small group but keep in mind its always good to find others and not everyone knows morse code.
The problem I have with this in the SHTF scenerio is the fact that all these can be detected by overhead drones.
Any reciever scanning frequncies is capable of being pinpoint by overhead intel gathering equipment.
I love my scanner and have a couple of handheld portables which transmit on similar frequncies.
In the SHTF ever happens I will be more concerned on the local police being able to keep up with the local crime.
If things went easy the bad would be taken out quickly and just the survivers would be living off the land.
